Admission Process

Candidates must submit an application at www.OptomCas.com, Send official transcripts from all institutions attended, results of the Optometry Admission Test and two letters of recommendation by a professor and an Optometrist to OptomCas.

The Admissions Committee interviews candidates meeting the minimum requirements establish either in person or for out of state candidates an interview with a practicing alumnus is arranged when feasible. The Committee explores the candidate’s strengths using five criteria:

  1. Concern for career objectives
  2. Knowledge of the profession
  3. Communication skills in English and Spanish
  4. Motivation
  5. Self-confidence

Candidates are ranked using the following interview parameters:

Parameters Percent
Grade Point Average (GPA) 25 percent
Required Course Point Average (RGPA) 30 percent
Optometry Admission Test (OAT) 35 percent
Interview by School Admission Committee 10 percent

Once a candidate is accepted, a $1,000.00 deposit is required within 15 days of acceptance. This deposit will be applied to the tuition fee. An administrative fee of $ 150.00 will be retained from the acceptance deposit of any student who officially informs that he/she no longer want to be a candidate
